The summit is nice, atmospheric and pleasant, especially on cloudy days, and it has a bench backing to a fence, beyond which is a vineyard. These lead to two different paths which again both merge soon after into one trail which goes to the summit, through some open and wooded areas. They all join below the summit before reaching a fence with two kissing gates. There are a coupe different trails, which are signed and a couple less formal ones, which all head to the "summit," the highest spot on the mountain. It includes trails both easy and rough, some flat, some steep, wooded areas, creeks, and open grassy meadows. This is at the southern part of town, with one car park and trail head accessed directly from the adjacent neighborhoods, via Kawana Terrace off of Franz Kafka Ave., and another car park with trail head on Petaluma Hill Rd. Taylor Mountain is one of several great open-space parks right in Santa Rosa. If you get the chance - take this most unique and wonderful s a lot cheaper than going to Africa! The 3 hour safari tour is excellent in specially modified jeep vehicles where everyone gets a chance to ride on top. They also give you the chance at night to make S'mores over a fire place. It consists of BBQ chicken and Beef Brisket, Mac and Cheese, salad, vegetables and desert. The dinner is well done and reasonably priced. It is especially interesting to see the animals at night (they provide flashlights) This way you can experience those animals that are nocturnal and be there when only other lodging guests are there. This gives you full access to the walking portion of the park. The lodging is in a luxury tent cabin near the animals. We also are happy to support such an effort to conservation and animal breeding and preservation. But you can take the Safari without the lodging or skip the dinner. To experienced the entire package of dinner, lodging and Safari. You get to see and experience African animals up close such as Giraffe, Rhinos, Impala, Cheetahs, Zebras, Hyenas, Lemurs, Flamingos, Monkeys and many more. You can also sleep there! Their luxury tent cabins are really cool.This is an amazing African Adventure in Northern California.Adult jeep safaris are about $100 and kids are about $50.Get all your questions answered on the phone. The main safari tour begins and ends at the deli, which makes fresh family-friendly fare in large portions. The second part of the tour is more like a zoo because the animals are enclosed.
